Six years ago, you would have had to scroll for a while to find a photo of Taylor Mitchell on her own Instagram feed.
“I hid behind motherhood for so long,” she says. “If you went back and looked at my page, it was mostly my daughter. You’d really have to hunt for a photo of me.”
Today, Taylor is the face of her brand—and the primary income earner for her family.
Based in Greenville, South Carolina, the mom of three has built a thriving affiliate business centered around affordable fashion, confidence after major body changes, and relentless consistency. In October alone, she drove $1 million in sales. In November, that number jumped to $9 million.
Her success did not happen overnight. It happened one post at a time.
Finding Herself Outside of Motherhood
Taylor started creating content during COVID, initially sharing family life and motherhood. Over time, her page became a place to process some of her biggest life moments: miscarriage, infertility, and eventually a 100-pound weight loss journey.
“I became a mom at 21. I never really got a chance to figure out who I was outside of that,” she shares. “Social media gave me a space to discover who Taylor is.”
After reaching her weight loss goal, she found herself navigating something new: loose skin, body changes, and relearning how to dress herself. She underwent loose skin removal surgery and began sharing that journey openly. That transparency led her to fashion, but with a specific focus.
“I would click on someone’s outfit and it would be $300,” she says. “And I’d think, I can’t buy that. That drove me nuts.”
So she made a decision: she would focus on affordable finds. Walmart quickly became a favorite. “You truly can shop at Walmart and build an amazing wardrobe,” she says. “That’s what I wanted to show people.” As her confidence grew, so did her following.
Discovering Affiliate Marketing (and a Different Kind of Momentum)
Taylor began experimenting with affiliate marketing as a stay-at-home mom. What started as a way to earn a little extra income quickly became something much bigger.
“When I realized I could actually make real money doing this, it felt life-changing,” she says. She initially used other platforms but found the long payment timelines discouraging. Then she received an email about Mavely.
“The quick payments were what got me,” Taylor explains. “Seeing a payment in 30 days instead of four to six months was huge.” She joined at the end of September and went all in. “I’m very motivated by goals,” she says. “The tiers, the bonuses—that lit a fire under me.”
In October, she drove $1 million in sales. In November, she reached $9 million. “It was insane,” she says. “Such a blessing.”
Support, Transparency, and Smart Technology
Taylor credits much of her growth to the support she’s received inside Mavely’s VIP program.
“[Senior Creator Success Manager] Amina Butt is absolutely amazing,” she says. “I feel more supported here than I ever have on any other platform.”
She also appreciates the transparency of the dashboard. “I can see all my data. I don’t have to second-guess if I’m getting paid correctly.”
On the tech side, her favorite feature is quick linking via the Mavely app. “I love being able to grab a link from anywhere and share it instantly,” she says. “It makes everything so much easier.”
She also frequently uses her Mavely MyShop storefront to create curated posts of her favorite products so followers can browse photos and shop in one place. (In fact, Taylor’s MyShop collections are so good, we featured her in our first-ever installment of Creator Curated—check it out!)
A Life That Looks Completely Different
Taylor’s affiliate income has transformed her family’s reality. She left her career as a paralegal to stay home with her daughter after COVID. At the time, her husband sold his truck so they could afford it. They were living paycheck to paycheck. In January, everything shifted.
“My husband got to leave his job and become a stay-at-home dad,” she says. “Now I’m our primary income. That still feels surreal.”
Since then, she’s purchased her dream car — a 2025 Bronco — in cash, built a home office in the backyard, and created financial breathing room she and her family never had before. “Mavely changed our family’s life,” she says. “I genuinely mean that.”
The Advice She Swears By
If Taylor could give one piece of advice to aspiring creators, it would be this: stay consistent.
“I know it’s said all the time, but it’s true,” she says. “You can’t get discouraged if something doesn’t perform well. You just keep posting.”
She also encourages creators not to overlook Facebook. “Facebook has an untapped audience,” she says. “Those are the people with spending power.” In one year, she posted more than 3,000 times on her Facebook page. “Momentum matters,” she says. “You just keep going.”
