How Kristin Goodlow Built a Business on Body Positivity and Affiliate Wins

Kristin Goodlow didn’t set out to be a fashion influencer: she just shared a Target try-on post that resonated. A year later, she’s built a thriving plus-size fashion platform, partnered with major brands, and turned content creation into a full-time career.

“I’m a plus-size, curvy influencer by default,” she says with a laugh. “That Target post skyrocketed, and everything shifted.”

From her home in Tampa, Florida, Kristin balances motherhood (she’s a mom of 10 and grandma of two!) with a growing business that blends authenticity, style, and financial success. And she’s not gatekeeping any of it.

A Platform Born from Authenticity

Mavely creator Kristin Goodlow shares plus-size finds with her followers

Originally planning to focus on lifestyle and family content, Kristin quickly realized her community craved something else: real, relatable fashion for women who don’t see themselves represented often enough.

“I’m just me,” she says. “Every day, what you see is what you get. I have lumps and bumps. I don’t wear shapewear. And I’m not trying to be anyone else.”

That honesty hit home with thousands of women. Kristin’s DMs are filled with messages from followers who feel seen for the first time in a long time, many of whom have dealt with medical issues, weight fluctuations, or self-confidence struggles.

Kristin’s platform is more than fashion—it’s about confidence. “I share what works for my body, and that resonates,” she says. “They feel like if I can wear it, they can wear it.”

How Kristin Made Affiliate Linking Her Foundation

After experimenting with other affiliate platforms, Kristin found her stride when she joined Mavely in July 2025.

“I said, ‘I’m going to put my all into Mavely,’ and I’ve easily made five figures a month ever since,” she says. “It just works.”

Her strategy? Focus on strong affiliate links and treat brand campaigns like a bonus. “Affiliate is my base. Campaigns are just icing on the cake,” she explains.

She’s landed brand partnerships with Walmart, Kohl’s, Stanley, and American Eagle, and says Mavely’s platform made it easy to start earning, fast. Kristin also credits Mavely’s LinkDM integration for saving her hundreds of dollars per month after switching from paid platforms like ManyChat.

“I told one of my creator friends about LinkDM, and she was like, ‘You just saved me $500 a month.’” she says, adding, “It’s that good!”

From Self-Discovery to Swipe Up

Kristin Goodlow, Mavely creator and mother of 10, knows how to bring authenticity and style to her audience.Kristin didn’t come from the content world. She was a stay-at-home mom for nearly a decade before diving into content creation full-time. And while the freedom is rewarding, the learning curve was steep.

“There are no SOPs (standard operating procedures) like in corporate America. No training. You’re figuring everything out on your own,” she says.

Networking, which can often be challenging for creators due to the solitary nature of their careers, have been game changers for Kristin. This past November, she attended Mavely’s Swipe Up 2025 creator summit, and found the experience of meeting and mingling with fellow creators to be extremely helpful. “Finding your ‘coworkers’—creators who arce willing to share—is everything,” she explains. “You can’t always get to people in DMs because affiliate links push the messages down. But in person? It’s powerful.”

Workshops, panels, and just being around other creators gave her clarity, confidence, and connections she didn’t know she needed

Kristin’s Advice for New Creators? Bet on Yourself.

Kristin’s journey is proof that authenticity wins—and so does persistence. “I don’t have management. I didn’t know how to get into rooms or connect with brands at first. But I kept showing up.”

Now, with consistent affiliate income, five-figure months, and a community that trusts her, Kristin is leaning into the future—with joy, style, and zero shapewear.
